Shane Rogers is a self-taught painter in Flagstaff, AZ, signing his work “SR.” He paints the desert, the San Francisco Peaks, and night roads under the Milky Way — and the interior life. He rarely knows what a piece will be until it's finished.

Made through a hard season.

The work began as a way through — a decade of addiction, and a decision to put a broken stretch onto canvas instead of carrying it. “The Crows” is where that turn is most visible.
